Photography has always been my outlet to send the world a message. One of the very first photo shoots I ever did was about bullying. I painted the word "fat" all over my friend and pretended to hang her with a tape measure noose. Being just out of middle school many of my teachers were immediately concerned for my mental health and the safety of my friend, but they never saw the nights I comforted my friend when she was on the verge of a panic attack because she ate "too many calories" that day. They didn't see the anger she took out on herself like I did or how after we took those photos, how much she realized that the words people say shouldn't effect her because she is beautiful. My teachers didn't see how incredible her life changed after we took those photos.
Art is confusing, but if you take the time to think about it, it can be beautiful and life changing.
